Sometimes you just need to bake a cake. There is nothing like quarantine time to inspire you to get crafty in the kitchen. If you want to make a cake with Twix, here is how! This chocolate Twix cake is moist and flavorful. Let’s get started!
To get started, you will need two boxes of a triple chocolate cake mix. Three nine-inch round cake pants, a round cake board, a cake slicer to level out your cake domes, and of course, eggs, water, and canola oil.
How to Bake a Layered Twix Cake
The first thing will be to preheat your oven to 350-degrees F and spray the cake pans with a baking spray. With a hand mixer, beat together all the cake mix ingredients until combined. Divide the batter into three cake pans and nake for about 28 to 35 minutes until done.
To make the caramel frosting, you will need butter, powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, caramel sauce, and chocolate sauce. Don’t forget the Twix, and you will need a piping bag with a star tip for this part too.
Using a standing mixer, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, heavy whipping cream, vanilla, 2 tbsp caramel sauce. Beat until combined, smooth and stiff with peaks.
Once the cake is done, place one cake layer onto the cake board and cut the dome off the cake to make an even layer. Repeat step with the other two layers.
Place one of the cake layers onto the cake board, and scoop one cup of caramel frosting onto the cake layer and smooth evenly. Place the second cake layer on top of the frosting.
Smooth 1 cup of caramel frosting onto the second cake layer, place the last layer on top. Frost entire cake with remaining frosting and smooth evenly with a frosting scraper or a flat metal spatula.
Using the caramel sauce, pipe drips around the top edge of the cake so
that it drips down the sides. Repeat step with the chocolate sauce, and pipe dollops of frosting around the top of the cake.
Place pieces of Twix candy bars into the frosting and get ready to enjoy!
